When you are an entrepreneur, you need to be the person who holds the sole responsibility of setting goals and holding yourself accountable when it comes to achieving them. There is nobody to guide you – it’s all on you! This can become overwhelming very quickly, and if you don’t have the discipline and motivation to stick to your goals, your business could suffer. That’s where a motivation coach can be useful to keep you on track.
Check out these techniques I have developed in my time as a motivation coach to help entrepreneurs stay motivated to achieve their goals.
1 – Get Plenty of Rest Every Night
As a motivation coach, something I hear a lot from my clients when they first come to me is that they are working 12 to 18 hours a day. Often they cannot understand how they are working so much and yet still not achieving everything they need to. The answer is simple – when you are not getting enough rest, it leads to fatigue and burn-out. Sooner or later, you will find yourself struggling to focus on even simple tasks. Working long hours and sacrificing sleep is counterproductive. It is better to get a solid 8 hours of sleep and be fully recharged the next day.
2 – Write Down Your Goals
A great tip that I share with my clients as a motivation coach is to write down a detailed plan of how to achieve your goals. Think about your goals and the milestones you will reach as you work towards achieving them. What do you think is a reasonable time scale for working on them? Use this information to produce a detailed personal plan showing what you need to achieve each day in order to keep progressing towards your goals. Being able to check off small steps along the way can do wonders for your motivation levels.
3 – Surround Yourself With Like-Minded People
If you have been following Bennie Unfiltered for any length of time, then there is a good chance that you might have heard me talk about picker-aid! Don’t drink it! As an entrepreneur, you need to make sure you are staying away from energy vampires and jealous pickers who want nothing more than to drag you down. As a motivation coach, my advice is to surround yourself with like-minded people and build a circle of friends that will lift you up. Join your local chamber of commerce and meet other business owners. Try to seek out people who have already achieved the goal you are working towards and learn from them.
4- Maintain a Positive Attitude
Sometimes when you are feeling out of sorts or depressed, it can have a detrimental effect on your motivation levels. That’s another reason why it is so important to keep those energy vampires and pickers at bay. Not only are they going to drag you down but they are going to hold you there with no motivation to move forward. A positive mental attitude goes a long way towards keeping yourself focused on your goal. No matter what sort of obstacles you find yourself encountering, approaching them with a positive attitude is going to increase your chances of overcoming them successfully.
